September 17, 2013 By satisfyingeats 12 Comments

taco seasoning collage2taco tuesdayIt’s Taco Tuesday!

Sometimes Tuesday feels like Monday and I need something Quick for dinner!  Tacos are the perfect solution!  I will NEVER buy the packs of seasoning again when I can easily, cheaply, and healthfully (I know this may not be a word, ha!) make my own!

Make a salad or use a  romaine lettuce leaves as your shell! Either way, it will be delicious! Also, you can use leftover pork

Use this same blend in my Taco Soup! Enjoy!

I think I need to embrace Taco Tuesday….too bad we’re having pancakes. Actually, that’s not too bad. Maybe I should have both.

Hi, question: Would you use your taco seasoning on fish or if not, how would you change it up for Fish Taco’s?

I am sure it would be great on fish for fish tacos. Maybe add a squeeze of lime to the fish as well!

Thank you so much for sharing this! When I used to make tacos with the seasoning packets I always feel sick afterwards. I very much appreciate the taco recipe! this way I know all the ingredients I’m putting into my body and feeding my family… and I’m sure the flavor rocks! πŸ˜‰

This is delicious! I have tried several homemade taco seasoning recipes and I always felt like something was missing so had given up on them and kept buying the store bought seasoning. Thankfully, my mom decided to try your recipe when I was visiting her. We loved it! Now I don’t have to buy the store bought version.

I almost skipped this page. Although I can recognize some of the benefits, I always stay away from no grain sites for various reasons the main ones being usually I really don’t like the recipes, they don’t appeal to me or are not something that I would want/enjoy eating on a regular basis, and the fact that there is a huge hype regarding grain or no grain that is fueled by lack of proper information, following trends just because they are trends and…unfortunately ignorance too. It doesn’t help that I won’ t ever completely let go of sugar πŸ˜‰
So as I was following a link for a recipe, I landed here, looked at the top saw the words grain free/sugar free and almost clicked the little x on top to move on to another recipe. But something made me take a look. Heck even if a person doesn’t want to let go of grains or sugar if something tastes/looks good, it’s based on “from scratch” and natural if not organic food I look. I like to eat things that I make and enjoy, and ( at least ) less grain is not a completely bad idea. That was my downfall! I have been in your site for over an hour reading recipe after recipe that sounds and looks delicious and something that I certainly would ( and will ) eat regularly. I will not be doing it because it’s grain free, or sugar free, or anything free. I will do it because they have to be delicious and I could eat like that forever ! I”ve been reading everything from meals, to homemade spice mixes, salad dressing….bread and biscuits….as some other sites leave me feeling like if I had to live the rest of my life eating that, I’d rather die and save myself from the unappetizing food, yours just made my imagination in touch with my taste buds and I’m saving and saving already planning a full week of yummy recipes and thinking maybe I could do this one now… πŸ™‚
You are incredible! Creative while keeping focus on how things taste instead of only how they look or on the healthy part of the equation. I confess some things I might end up substituting and there is no way I’ll ever get used to stevia – I can compromise with honey but that’s as far as I’ll go. But I believe that the recipes you created here will enrich my meals and even bring some healthier habits. Thank you !

Honestly, I thank you! I have officially made and loved taco salad, cinnamon bread, pumpkin chili, sweet potato lasagna and coconut chipotle chicken stew – minus the avocado -. They all were big hits with the whole family , they loved it and gave the seal of approval to make it often, which I was planning already anyway πŸ™‚
As i said above, even if we don’t suddenly embark on a mission of completely free this or that, and we still substitute a thing or two, we are eating healthy meals that taste phenomenal !!! You have a great gift!
