Melissa’s 30-Second Weight-Loss Shake

Yes, I drink milk shakes 4-5 times a week!  I started this about a month ago and guess what, I continue to lose weight! 😉  I call it Melissa’s Weight-Loss Shake to #1, get you to read this post and #2, if you drink this shake instead of drinking regular milk shakes, ice-cream or even sugar free ice-cream, you will probably lose weight!

If giving this to someone to try, just call it a milk shake and they will never know.  My husband’s uncle loves vanilla ice cream and can be pretty particular about his food.   I made one of these for him this weekend and he loved it and wants me to show his wife how to make them!  😉  I feel accomplished!

It all starts with freezing unsweetened almond milk, either homemade or the stuff in the carton in the refrigerated section. As you use the almond milk ice cubes, just refill it and put it back in the freezer so you never run out because that will make you sad!  Because of the high water content in the almond milk, there will be more ice-crystals in the shake than the ones at Dairy Queen but after you taste it and realize that you can enjoy these on a regular basis, you won’t even care.

If buying almond milk, be sure it labeled unsweetened.  Don’t get the vanilla, it has added sugar.  

Chocolate Shake!!

I encourage you to try the dairy free version as well.  Instead of heavy whipping cream, use coconut milk.  It is so yummy with just a hint of coconut.  You can call it your Margarita Milk Shake! 😉

Melissa’s 30-Second Weight-Loss Shake
About 10 oz Shake

Homemade Unsweetened Almond Milk or Coconut Milk Recipe or store bought- frozen in Ice-cube trays
1/3 cup heavy cream or coconut milk
2/3 cup unsweetened almond milk
2-4 servings of Kal stevia
1/2-1 tsp vanilla

Add ins:  2 tbsp unsweetened Cocoa, 1/2 cup Strawberries, 1/2 cup blueberries (Fresh or Frozen)

  1. Pour homemade or store bought unsweetened almond milk into ice cube trays and allow to freeze.  Be sure not to fill to the top so that they can be easily removed from tray. My ice trays held approximately 1-1/2 tbsp of almond milk in each opening.
  2. Freeze until solid.
  3. For one serving, add 4 cubes of almond milk to blender, Magic Bullet or Ninja.
  4. Add milks, stevia and vanilla.  Always start with least amount of stevia first and then taste.
  5. Now is also time to add cocoa, strawberries or blueberries if desired.  
  6. Blend for 30 seconds or until you can hear that there are no more chunks.
  7. Enjoy!

    Oh my goodness I GOTTA try this! I have been dying for some ice cream! I stopped drinking milk of any kind except for almond milk and coconut milk and I've been wanting some ice cream SO BAD!

    I made it for both. Yesterday I had one for my lunch and I stayed full for hours afterwards. Although I am adding Whey Protein powder to mine, just one scoop of it.

    Thanks Melissa! I love your recipes. I have been making shakes similar to this, but I use coconut milk instead of almond, and I drop in a couple of cubes of frozen coffee.

    Glad everyone likes it! @EmilyB, I drink this as a snack or as dessert. @NanBG, that sounds wonderful. I have made a variation using frozen coffee as well! Who needs Starbucks? Not Me! Who wants to keep their $5 for a frozen coffee? I will! 😉

    oh my do you do the frozen coffee? just brew then freeze? and mine was a little watery, do I need to add more ice cubes? or did I over blend? my hubs said it's yummy still. 🙂

    @mistygriffin, For the coffee shake, I just freeze leftover coffee in ice cube trays and add to mixer and be sure to add the powdered cocoa to it. Not sure why it was runny, possibly over blended. You can always add a few more cubes of frozen almond milk.

    jdeezy, glad you liked it! @Kristine, try freezing coconut milk (canned) and instead of adding additional almond milk, use coconut. I am amazed at how versatile coconut milk it! Let us know how it turns out!

    Tried this recipe this morning, adding unsweetened cocoa and 1/2 ripe, frozen banana. I forgot to add Stevia, but it was still good (probably the banana made up for the lack of sweetener). Thanks so much. I felt as if I were drinking a cold glass of chocolate milk! Yummy!!!! Can't wait to try with frozen coffee! What a great idea! (Sorry for all the exclamations, but sweets are my weakness and my downfall. Sugar calls my name 24/7; unfortunately, I usually respond. If I can have something like this, I can beat that sugar demon!)

    This delicious, decadent! I've tried to make it without the chocolate, but I just can't resist adding chocolate every time! Variation: I've made it with coconut milk ice cubes, coconut milk, cream, coconut extract, and chocolate, and it tastes like Mounds candy bar!

    I made this today to drink while I drove to work. I threw in frozen blueberries and 1 too many stevia packets but I loved it and will definately do again. I will be anxious to try to coconut milk next time.

    Just found your site today! love it–question about the almond milk–is the 2/3 cup in the recipe in addition to the frozen ice cubes or is that 2/3 cup frozen into the ice cubes? I am easily confused it seems with recipes! TIA

    @Jane, the regular vanilla version is around 4 net carbs and if you add cocoa powder or fruit it will increase carb count slightly. Glad you are enjoying recipes!@Jeanne, the 2/3 cup of almond milk is separate from the frozen almond milk. In a pinch, you can also use regular 'ol ice cubes! Hope you enjoy!
